McLaren Vale is one of South Australia’s oldest and most picturesque regions, nestled between the Mount Lofty Ranges and the white, sandy beaches of the Gulf of St Vincent. It offers exceptional wines and regional produce all set amongst rolling vineyards, a rugged coastline and a charming collective of villages including Willunga, Clarendon, Kangarilla, Sellicks, Port Willunga, McLaren Flat and the township of McLaren Vale.
Notable for producing Shiraz, this grape is by far the most important variety for the region, accounting for about 50 percent of the total crush. The area’s thin soils, limited water, and warm summers harness Shiraz’s natural vigor and produce intense flavoured fruit and wine with a deep purple colour that can last decades in the bottle. McLaren Vale wines are distinguished by their ripeness, elegance, structure, power and complexity.
The Telegraph Station Shiraz shows a deep magenta colour with vibrant purple hues. Intense aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry and mulberry with hints of liquorice, spice and rhubarb. The palate is lively with luscious fresh blackberry and raspberry fruit, coupled with slight mocha and toasty notes. The finish is rich and full with well balanced acidity and velvety tannins.
